The Status of Women in Islam – A Powerful Hadith

Women play an irreplaceable role in our lives — as mothers, sisters, daughters, and wives. They fill our homes with love, patience, and sacrifice. But how often do we stop to ask: do we treat them with the same dignity, care, and respect that we expect for ourselves?

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was once asked:
“What do you say about our women?”

He ﷺ replied:
“Feed them from what you eat yourself. Clothe them as you clothe yourself. Do not strike them, and do not speak harshly to them.”

(Sunan Abi Dawood, Hadith 2144)

This Hadith is not just a guideline — it's a revolution in human dignity. It demands that women be treated with the same standard of care, comfort, and compassion as men. It teaches that a woman is not a burden or a lesser being — she is a full human being with rights, feelings, and honor.
